Fundraising

We organise the race for so many reasons. The first is that we enjoy doing so. We also aim to bring people from outside of the immediate area to our school, therefore interacting with the community. Of course, we also wish to raise funds to support the children's education here at St Mary's. By the time the race is run in 2014 funds from the 2013 race will have made the school library a warmer, more welcoming environment, part of the school's drive to promote reading and enhance the library as a place of research and study. The library has been repainted, while the addition of sofas has made reading a more attractive proposition. Some money has also been used to increase the number of non-fiction books available for each subject.
